Welcome to Andros Island

The beautiful Andros Island in Bahamas is least explored island. The traffic to island started in 1960 when first dive center was opened, after that the island saw steady increase of travelers an divers. The island is stretched to 2,300-square-miles and is probably the largest of least explored island.

The Andros Island is famous for scuba diving and snorkeling. The island hosts second largest barrier reef in the Northern Hemisphere.The island has pine forest in north, the fishing and diving area are in east and on the west are the fishing flats. The Andros Island is blessed with fresh water. The island supplies, every day nearly 7 million gallons of water to Nassau (Bahamas).

The island has underwater cave system, the discovery of underwater caves made Andros island popular among divers. Lot of people come from different part of world for under water cave exploration. Many people have set records for deep diving in Andros island water. The island has very small population and most of it is on east side of island. The island people depend on fishing and farming, while some build boats and few are engaged in wood carving.

  • The Canadian Prime Minister Pierre and Bahamian Prime Minister Lynden O. Pindling learned to dive at Small Hope Bay Lodge.
  • The Canadian diver Betty Singer set the diving record for women in 1961, she went as deep as 310 feet.
