The Turk and Caicos island has one of the best dive spots in Bahamas to explore reef. The island is covered with thorny trees and cactus but that does not stop visitors to explore its beautiful beaches and the island has miles long coral reef. The island still comes in top ten dive list. The islands is formed with two groups of islands. One is The Turk Islands made up of six cays mostly uninhabited and two islands "Grand Turk" and "Salt Cay" are inhabited. The Caicos Island is made up of six islands and some small islets. The islands in Caicos island are popular for best dive spots, some of them figure on world top dive list (North and south Caicos, East and West Caicos).
At 166 sq miles long The Turk and Caicos island is populated 20000 - 25000 people living on island and are living on small farming, fishing and tourism. At one point the island was British territory and got independence in 1962. The capital is Cockburn town in Grand Turk island, all the government offices are in this area.
