The history of Bahamas dates back to ninth century AD, when original inhabitants Arawak Lucayan tribe lived in Bahamas. The roots of Arawak tribe ware from South America, they made there way through Caribbean and arrived in Bahamas. The Arawak tribe ware simple people, their live hood was dependent upon two factors, agriculture and fishing. There luck ran out when in 1942 Christopher Columbus set his foot on shores of Bahamas. According to historian at that time, the population of Arawak tribe was between 35,000 to 45,000. Soon they ware slaved and used for agriculture, mining and labors needed to support trade.
